Using an Bluetooth Dongle with Ångström (rfkill-error)

Post by MrJordn » Fri Apr 25, 2014 11:07 am

Greetings, folk!

You might want to connect bluetooth devices to your BeagleBone. Unfortunately it is sometimes not that easy, because of a bug in the Kernel.
Plug the dongle in and try to turn bluetooth on (via GUI). If it does not work try to power it on with hciconfig.
This will most likely lead to an error (Operation not possible due to RF-kill).
You can easily fix this by changing the Enable parameter to true in /var/lib/connman/settings. Now run the command rfkill unblock all. You can use all since there should be no other devices in the list, however you can check that with rfkill list.
Do not forget to reboot!
This was the solution in my case. Now turning on bluetooth should work properly.

Best,
